Living in the Philippines
I am weighing the pros and cons of a business opportunity that would require me to move to the Philippines for at least 3 years. Specifically, the island of Cebu.
Looked on line and I've read blogs by US expats who claim that you can live like a king for $600 if you live outside Manila, the capital. Are there Philippine resident 2+2ers around here? I would greatly appreciate some opinions about life in the Philippines. Is online poker legal? How's the internet access outside Manila? Living expenses? Food? Women? Beaches? Live poker? Thanks. |

Re: Living in the Philippines
All I know is the phillippines is possibly cheaper than Thailand. Meaning, you will live like a king.
I have also read that some areas can be hostile vs. whites (and even asians) Also, I have herad there are terrorism threats. Really, your reaserch is prolly much more thourough than mine, so you prolly have a better of picture. Iw ould suggest going there for 1 month, and reevaluating (if you can do this). Blogs, and ppls feedback do not compare to truly experiencing it. Imagine wasting 3 years of your life. It could happen. Or it could be great 3 years. Really depends on the individual. So I suggest living it a little, before dedicating. |

Re: Living in the Philippines
Thanks for the link. I'm switching over to that thread. Mods: I don't mind if you lock this thread up. I'm going to the travel forum.
