.25/.50 LO8 Hit my straight on the turn
Ran into an interesting spot after hitting a straight on the turn. I'll post my comments in italics.
(SB in this hand has been playing close to half of his hands.) PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Omaha/8 (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls, 1 fold, MP2 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, SB raises, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls, MP2 calls, Button calls. Okay to defend my blind with this hand? Flop: (10 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players) SB bets, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls, MP2 folds, Button calls. Seemed like I caught enough of the flop to take one off. Turn: (7 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players) SB bets, Hero raises, UTG+1 folds, Button folds, SB calls. I raised here to knock out random flush draws and low draws. River: (11 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) SB bets, Hero calls. Final Pot: 13 BB |

Re: .25/.50 LO8 Hit my straight on the turn
Defending preflop is borderline. This 7 really doesnt belong to what is a strictly high hand. Of course if you have a good reason to believe that everyone else plays only low hands you can call. But if one of them has a quality rundown like KQJT and rest low hands you are in bad shape.
Postflop I would play exactly the same way, aplying more or less the same logic Although on turn i raise strictly for value because believing that you can make low flush draws fold is very optimistic. Someone who has 23xx clubs or better will never ever fold there. But you may make someone go away who has 2 small pair which is also good. |

Thank you for the comments.
