I think any draw he check/called with on the flop managed to get there by the river.

I think he check/calls the river with any Kx.

I think your pair of 7s will win at show down vs most of the hands that fold if you bet.

So, I think checking behind and showing down the 7s is better than betting.

Looks to me that there are too many ways that could turn out with an unhappy ending - and most of those would be compatible with his check on the river. Since you had the initiative, he may be looking for you to bet so he can check/raise a flush or straight. The fact that you put on the brakes and checked the turn might make him think that you didn't make anything good anyways, so if he has a K you'd get at least a call (depending upon your image).

And that's a really good point - if you want to prevent the K or even Q calls, you need to bet more than you did, and make him seriously fear that you made a str or flush. Though I still think there are too many ways to lose here.

I think that's a poor spot to bluff after checking the turn on that board. He isn't folding very many hands that he got there with and can justify looking you up with so much of his range that he called the flop with. Even though your pair of sevens is never good here, you have to give up on the pot.
