Re: KQs button facing WTF raise
i hate these spots, i never know what to expect, aces, T9o. id just fold it and hope it gets to showdown between him and the button so you can see what kind of a hand he makes this 'play' with.

Re: KQs BB facing WTF raise
with +100BB stacks, am i the only one that thinks the initial preflop raise is pretty awful?

Loose-passive fish limps on the button, he probably doesnt have anything and sb just limped along. You dont want to let them in for cheap, esp. the button whose range you easily crush. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think SB has much of a hand here; if he was planning on limp/reraising here he was banking on the one remaining player to raise after he completed his blind. Seems like an easy way to miss out on a ton of value if he really has a strong hand. |

with +100BB stacks, am i the only one that thinks the initial preflop raise is pretty awful? [/ QUOTE ] What exactly do you find awful about the PFR?? We are out of Position to the button, and probably way ahead of his range, but with him limping in that spot we really don't know. Raising does a couple of things for us, 1) It allows us to build a pot when we have a better hand than our opponents 2) It narrows the field when we don't take the pot down PF, which improves the strength of our hand vs our opponents. 3) It helps to define our opponents hand post-flop, so we can make better decisions. Thus maximizing our winning and minimizing our losses. Smooth calling from the BB with a button limper is beyond horrible, and a slightly larger raise when OOP is perfectly fine, since it allows us to play our hand more perfectly. Bilbo did an excellent job of explaining why it is better to build a larger pot OOP pf with strong holding, so you make your decisions on later streets easier a couple of days ago. I'm sure if you look at his posts from this week you can find it. That being said, I'm perfectly ok with a shove here PF unless we have been raising limpers here from the blinds quite frequently(pretty unlikely IMO, but you never know). |

Re: KQs BB facing WTF raise
so you think he should stack off with KQ into a 24/9 who limp/reraises. tell me how that works out!
