Villain is ~50/11 and a losing player. I thought there was a decent chance to get aaxx to allin with me here. Should I have slowed down? Im having a hard time putting a hand to villain simply bc I doubt he would have folded a set a lower straight with a low draw.

As played looks ideal. You got villain to put in extra money when drawing to a backdoor low and whatever else, and you may have persuaded villain to throw away an emergency low. Villain just didn't have a big enough draw on the turn to pay you off, but betting smaller makes no sense.

I used to hate taking pots like this down earlier than necessary, but in this case there is a lot that can either scoop you on the river or take half... locking in your winnings seems to be the smart play, and hey they call more than never and if so you're benefitting. Plus, against a losing player you might be unsure of what kind of garbage they are holding that could have connected with ANY river scare card. It would be a shame to lose to baby spades or nines full in this spot.
