10NL: 88 OOP - villain pushes river
Since I couldn't find a HH converter for iPoker HH's from PT I formatted it manually so bare with me (anyone got one?).
Been there for about 10-15 hands when I get the following hand: GAME #612556509: Texas Hold'em NL $0.05/$0.10 2007-07-29 12:22:30 Table Birkenhead Park Hero ($10.00) UTG ($3.83) UTG+1 ($7.70 in chips) CO ($13.53 in chips) Button ($7.19 in chips) SB ($4.11 in chips) Preflop:Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 fold, Button raises to $0.4, SB fold, Hero calls $0.3 Flop$0.85) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $0.4, Button calls $0.4 Turn$1.65) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $1, Button calls $1 River$3.65) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets $2, Button raises to $5.39 (All-in), Hero ?? Should I have checked the turn? I think he might as well have 2 high cards and it trying to hit one. What about the river? |

Re: 10NL: 88 OOP - villain pushes river
Bet more flop, like $0.65.
I would check on turn, I mean you're probably still ahead but I wouldn't want to build a big pot w/ a marginal hand. I would call a smallish bet if villain bet out <$1. I would also check river. As played I would fold, I don't want to put any more money in with second pair. Although I'm not too sure about that since you are getting pretty good odds. |

Re: 10NL: 88 OOP - villain pushes river
Re-raise preflop. That would give you control of the hand. Plus, 88 is a pretty good hand HU against a possible blind steal.
If he just calls, lead out on the flop. If he 4-bets you preflop, consider folding. |

Re: 10NL: 88 OOP - villain pushes river
No need to rr preflop with a hand like 88. Pot the flop.Pot turn and check fold river. What does he have on the river you beat? a naked 4? Top pair had you beat. three of kind for his 3 on the turn and the backdoor flush draw hit.

Bet more on flop, check turn, check/fold river.

[ QUOTE ]
No need to rr preflop with a hand like 88. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree with this. You have a good hand preflop and you want to take control of this board. You gain a lot in FE by doing so and c-betting the flop. |

Re: 10NL: 88 OOP - villain pushes river
Betting turn is marginal. The three is pretty harmless. It's not a bad bet IMO. Don't bet the river unless you spike an eight. I'd c/c or c/f there depending on opponent.

Re: 10NL: 88 OOP - villain pushes river
Thanks for all feedback. So basically bet bigger on flop, possibly also on turn and give up on river if called unless it's an 8. Now after re-reading my HH with all the comments I actually realize my river bet is very very bad.
Just for the record: I called the river bet and he showed Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 10[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] for back door FD. |
