Just got the new Sng book and I've skimmed through most of it. I was wondering if people in this forum agree with what he calls the "Fundamental Theorem of Sit 'n Go High Blind Play" : don't let yourself get blinded off.
He further fleshes out this idea in saying that if you have 3-5BB you are breaking the rule if you don't push before the blinds get to you. Whether you've read the book or not, i'd like to hear some other opinions on this idea. |

as a guiding principle it's ok i suppose, but its not possible to generalise to this extent. so calling it a fundamental theorem just isn't right.
in particular, depends on other stack sizes. e.g,. if we're on the bubble, BB has 1.5 BBs, and I have 4 BBs on the CO, I'd be crazy to push without an absolute monster. |

Lots of exceptions. |

Yeah, I'm getting the impression that the book can make a bad player into a good one, but not a good player into a great one.

Yeah, I'm getting the impression that the book can make a bad player into a good one, but not a good player into a great one. [/ QUOTE ] Probably true of all poker books. As far as the fundamental theorum, there are times when it's better to just wait for the BB to hit you and double up. Generally when you have an awful hadn with no FE or in places where if you shove UTG you're likely to get called multiple times. Also it's nice to double up in the BB because then you don't have the BB hitting you again immediately. |

At least I also picked up professional no-limit hold em, which is a gem.

Probably true of all poker books. [/ QUOTE ] i disagree, nl:t&p can do that. but i do agree that no poker book can turn a great player into a world class one. |
