Default TPWK on paired board

villain seemed to call down a lot. was mostly passive postflop, contrary to his PF aggression.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

saw flop|<font color="#C00000">saw showdown</font>

BB checks<font color="#CC3333">, Hero bets $34</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB raises to $86</font>, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $67

is my play standard here?
i thought his flop play is mostly air, draws and trips. but i need to bet the turn to protect as my hand is weak and he is likely to be on a draw.
i cannot see him doing the turn c/r with a hand i beat (draw, air) despite the good odds. villain has about 40 behind, which ill hava to pay on the river very likely.

I check turn for potcontrol. It gives freecard to draws, but it's a difficult balance but in this scenario i don't think we want to build a large pot with a marginal hand.

I think you played it alright.

TJKQA and [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] are all scare cards.

I think bet/fold is best here.

i dont understand why you say "i thought his flop play is mostly air, draws and trips"

i cant remember the last time i saw 0.8AF's raising air or semibluffing. if they did that, their AF wouldnt be so miniscule.

ive seen so many donks get crazy on paired boards. IF they do bluff, its certainly on a TTx-like-flop

i prefer checking the turn

if you do bet the turn you have to bet bigger imo to reduce the perceived fold equity
