100-200 hand played by a novice
I have very little stud experience. I am currently 60 pages in to to the green book SFAP. I shouldnt be playing this high, but I was running hot on my hold em tables and decided to take a shot...
I think 3rd was wrong but im not convinced. I also think maybe I should have taken the shot on 4th to squeeze out the 3rd player when I had it, especially with a sick draw. I am pretty sure my fold on 7th was good but maybe not. THoughts?? Re: 100-200 hand played by a novice
Wow I screwed up basically every street here upon further review. Hopefully we can get a little theory discussion going tho, because their are a ton of decision points in this hand that can be debated I think

Re: 100-200 hand played by a novice
Third is fine. Fourth is fine, although betting out would be fine as well. Definitely bet fifth. By sixth, you really haven't made anything, and it's also apparent that the other guy isn't going away. If you really think that by betting sixth you set up a river bluff, OK, but I think the reality of the situation is that you're going to have to hit in order to win. I'd check and call.
And Tens-up isn't really what you wanted to hit. Maybe your bet had value, but I prefer to try to catch a bluff with a hand like this. When the other guy raises the river, you're like never good. |

Re: 100-200 hand played by a novice
Check-raise Four. Any big card or a Nine ought to win you the pot on Five (small two-pair and straight draws will hate their hands), and you have an assload of equity in a three-way pot with live Eights, Kings and clubs. If someone else is high on the next card you'll probably get a free one should you need it, or an extra bet in the pot if you don't.
As played on the early streets, Fifth, Sixth and river are fine, but you would have done well to recognize the value your hand had on Fourth. |

Re: 100-200 hand played by a novice
I was watching the game when this happened trying to figure out who the soft spot/spots were in the game since generally loingpoker or whatever is just sitting there all alone most of the day and my first thought when he raised the river here was "nobody would ever bluff here because nobody ever folds" at which point you folded, very likely disappointing him. I'm completely unfamiliar with the players in this game but just watching the hand I felt you had made a good laydown, now knowing that you were a complete unknown to the villain (thus making it much more likely that he expects you to call imo) the fold is probably even better. As far as the rest, I would raise again on 3rd but failing that I would for sure c/r 4th. The only thing 7CSFAP ingrained into my brain is that you should manipulate the pot in situations like this so that you have a good chance of winning with 1 pair. 5th and 6th there is nothing to really talk about obviously.
