25 NL - Slow play a set and then....
Think i played this one badly. Villain is about 22/9/2 over 100 hands or so.
Is slow playing this really bad? I figured it was an ok spot for it as the board was pretty dry. What should I make of his virtual all-in on the river? He has been pretty passive before this. Re: 25 NL - Slow play a set and then....
I've looked up raises in spots very similar to this. Almost always a straight. Rare times maybe 55, but thats a rather small part of his range. Have to fold.
Also, I prefer not to slowplay a passive opponent. |

Was pretty sure he had the straight as well, I was annoyed that I had slowplayed it and paid him. Sure enough he turned over 44, lesson learned.

Re: 25 NL - Slow play a set and then....
checking to the preflop raiser here HU on this dry board is fine. Flat calling the cbet is not. I CR to $5.5 on the flop.
As played, lead the turn for $5.3 to build a pot to be able to value bet larger on the river.. River is a call because villains line makes no sense, and it could be a lower set, strangely played QQ+ or something else stupid. Very few hands beat us here, and I don't see why villain would bet JJ on the flop but then check behind on the turn IP. Makes very little sense. If villain played JJ or some kind of straight this way, nice [censored] hand to him. |
