Default overpair facing miniraise in paired board - nl200

This is a ussual situation but i'm never sure about how to play it. Villian in question is a donkey, plays a lot of hands and is has passive stats so far (60 hands).
I mean, i always convince myself to push cause he could be doing this with A6o or 88 and call a push.

This is where I like going for "the doubler." Make it $88 to go. After that it's up to you..

his raise is so strong here considering he's passive. i don't think it's a huge mistake to call the minraise and see if he shuts down with tt or something. if he doesn't i'd consider pitching it. AA/KK is a small possibility as well as 44 and 66. he's not doing this with 57 and it's very questionable whether he'd do this with and over-to-baord/under-to-you pair. why wouldn't he just call if he's passive... looks scary to me.

Just call his minraise and proceed with caution. If he makes a big bet on turn I would very likely dump my hand and find a better spot to stack him

I never fold here, either shove or call. I'd lean towards 3 betting though because a lot of his range are mid pairs that we could lose action against if a higher card than their pair hits.

I expect 4x to smooth call like always from a passive donkey.

That's not my experience. Passive donkeys have such an enormously bad timing that they show tons of aggression when they shouldn't. This is such a case, often (4x).

Some of the time it's 77 or complete BS.

So I call here and almost NEVER raise.

this seems like a pretty easy decision to me here.

i would say the correct "standard" and conservative play

would be just to repop and make it 120 to go. then he mucks his 88 or 99.

But you are in good position here. and you now have a player taking the aggression against you out of position. So in my opinion I'd sandbag him.

Do not be afraid of a min raise, because 9/10 they are not min raising because it is a value bet with the stone cold bad daddies. they are min raising because the are a weak and a weak player and just scared to show any real aggression.

I would just call here with a 95% certainty that i had the best hand. then just wait to see what he bets on the turn. chances are considering his weak bet he is going to throw another weak bet on the turn probably a continue bet of 44 - 50.

if the pot is big enough for you now and dont feel like gambling anymore just put him all in. and he might make a donkey call with 9s. but he will probably fold.

if you just call, he will probably just check the river and you can put him all in, if he bets you put him all in if he didnt already.

but this is just advice with no real reads on the player.
Ask yourself, how did he play AA or KK in the past did he play it real goofy or straight forward.

what has he been betting with the nuts value bets? trapping? or big haymaker sized bets?

has he called UTG with hands like 45 suited? does he play every ace rag?

And how about you tell us what you did and the outcome please?
