Wow, these are juicy! Very few pots go to showdown so there is less variance than a typical SNG. I just started playing these, anyone have general strategy?

Ok, I just finished 3 of these and here are some thoughts.
When the blinds are small, alterate your play and see how your opponent reacts to certain situations. See how weak or aggressive they are, and when the blinds hit 50/100 you should know enough about them to completely own them. |

You might however want to try to end it at 25/50 if possible to lower the chance of them getting lucky. Lori |

Lori [/ QUOTE ] Yes, you don't want to donk off chips (although weak tight at 10/20 might make maniacal him at later levels), and usually reads be taken very early. Paired boards are the best to find out what his default style is because it's unlikely either of you hit anything. |

[/ QUOTE ] less variance than a typical SNG? You've got to be kidding. HU SNG's have the most variance out of any game online. I have played about 20,000 of these (not kidding), and the variance is brutal. I am, unfortunately addicted to these things. After rake, I am only a slight winner, and I also tilt easy in them after losing. |

over my head Lori =\.
Anyways, I think you guys got your strategies all wrong. I believe the best way to play these things is to be maniacal. I've found that to be the best strategy and from my maybe 50ish HUs at the $500/$1000 level, everyone except a rare few play this style. You just have to be able to play flops well and read opponents, which comes with practice. |

He made a post "explaining" variance.
It is my belief that he would not like your description of it. Lori |

[/ QUOTE ] The variance should be essentially the same as flipping a slighly biased coin, which is lower than the variance of a SNG. If you're only a slight winner at these, you're doing something (or many things) horribly wrong. My opponents usually have to get hit by the deck hard to beat me. |
