Betting the English Premier League
Howdy,
I find myself enthralled with soccer and learning more about it all the time. I think for the 07/08 season I am going to have some extra fun and place some bets here and there. I just had a couple questions concerning betting the EPL. First off I see a lot of asian handicapping. I get the idea of it and will read more into it in the morning but when you bet the EPL do you find yourself making more fixed odds bets or asian handicapping bets? Why? What are the advantages to them? What site do you use for a news intake? I use ESPN SoccerNet. I don't know if there is a better site for the EPL or maybe just individual teams in general. When making your picks for the EPL what kinds of things are you looking at? There are the obvious things like being home and away but what else do you really need to know for you to make a good bet? And finally what sites are you using (if any) for analysis/previews of the games to maybe help you make a more informed/better bet? Good this season to those betting the EPL and everyone else who is sports betting! |

Re: Betting the English Premier League
I'll try and keep this short:
[ QUOTE ] when you bet the EPL do you find yourself making more fixed odds bets or asian handicapping bets? Why? What are the advantages to them? [/ QUOTE ] I'll bet AH around 80% of time. One advantage is that you'll always be betting in an odds range of around -130/+130 which tends to work better with my money management. Secondly, and by far more important, the bookie overround on AH odds is reduced from fixed odds betting, thus being more favorable in the long run. With line shopping you can also find fixed odds at different books that will have little overround. AH books usually accept much higher stakes than typical fixed odds (Euro style) books. My suggestion is that you start learning how to work from fixed odds to AH odds and then compare both. It's basically an exercise which will get you accustomed to what odds can look like when they're not +0.5/-0.5 style, but with a different handicap. [ QUOTE ] What site do you use for a news intake? I use ESPN SoccerNet. I don't know if there is a better site for the EPL or maybe just individual teams in general. [/ QUOTE ] http://www.sportinglife.com/ http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/default.stm http://www.football365.com/home/index.shtml http://www.skysports.com/skysports/home http://www.teamtalk.com/ + stats sites like http://www.soccerway.com + individual club sites (google) + mainly soccer betting forums (google as well...) [ QUOTE ] When making your picks for the EPL what kinds of things are you looking at? There are the obvious things like being home and away but what else do you really need to know for you to make a good bet? [/ QUOTE ] Wow, this is basically like asking for instructions about how to bet soccer games. That's really a super extensive write-up... In soccer, unlike baseball from what I've learned, form is an important factor, line-ups, injuries, formations, key stats, etc. There's really a whole lot to factor in and your bet will only be as good as your information processing. Hope that's a start for you. Others may have better help available. |

Re: Betting the English Premier League
Ya. I figured my last question of what you were looking at in an upcoming game to make a good bet was a little far out there. I kind of had an idea as far as that information concerning a team would make an impact on who would be a favorite. I was just trying to dig a lil deeper and see if there was some unlikely things (well I guess unlikely to me at the moment) that people were looking at when picking their teams.
Thanks a ton for the help mate. |
