Re: Live $150 - Shortstacked blind war w/ A8o
Good call.
I think this post could be improved if you put him on a shoving range (what is a good player shoving in his spot) and then pokerstoving A8o against that range. I have not run the calcs but I know you made a good call. |

www.pokerstove.com
download the free software open up the window. If you think his range is 22-AA,A2-AK,K2-KQ,67s,78s (not that this is the range here) you write it as 22+,A2+,K2+,67s,78s (don't put spaces between the hands. YOu could also click on the tab that says 'hand 1' and pick the hands out yourself or you can use the slider bar to select something like top 20%. (note: I dont have pokerstove on this computer so I might be slightly off but its not too hard to figure out) I went to Cornell and was in a fraternity named Fiji (Phi Gamma Delta.) |

Re: Live $150 - Shortstacked blind war w/ A8o
My friend posted this thread for me after I busted out of this tournament. I made the call with A8o, he had AJo and he held on to win, I was crippled and then busted soon after. At the time my reasoning was that he had a huge range being heads up in the blinds, with only an M of like 2.5. If I won this pot, it would put me in a nice spot not only to cash but have some control at my table. I was getting a low and felt this was a great chance for me. Afterwards, it's easy to say man I shouldn't have done that since I lost... but I did the calculations and it was pretty much 45%/55%... better than the given pot odds.
