Hill Country for the best BBQ i've ever had in my life (maiinly the brisket). And I lived in the South for a while too.

pretty much verbatim with these two reviews. basically, the brisket is amazing; like "'i never knew brisket could taste this good' amazing". the sides are so-so (corn is good). Daisy May's used to be my favorite. this blows it away (the brisket, that is).

I would without a doubt say that the south has the highest concentration of quality bbq joints, but that doesnt mean that there arent competitive places up north.
