Weak or good fold?
30+3 PS. field of about 550. New to the table, about 5 hands in. Two hands prior (hand 3 at this table) I got tripled up with AA>JJ>77 *phewy*
Onto the hand. No reads, no familiar faces. Poker Stars No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t50/t100 8 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: t7040 UTG+1: t5701 MP1: t2839 MP2: t1765 CO: t1716 Button: t1622 SB: t3255 Hero: t4380 Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to t300, MP1 raises to t1400, 4 folds, Hero folds, UTG+1 folds. Uncalled bets: t1100 returned to MP1. Results: Final pot: t750 Comments??? Standard??? Weak? |

Re: Weak or good fold?
I could swing either way, there is reasoning for both plays. You are folding because a guy who could end your tournament is behind you. Or you push because you want to isolate MP1. I'd say if you get it heads up with MP1 you are probably flipping against AK AQ. That early with your stack, you can wait for a better oppurtunity when you are more clearly the favorite.

Re: Weak or good fold?
Fold. A very loose 3-betting range of AK, AQ, 99+ vs JJ
equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 49.816% 48.85% 00.96% 316194324 6243024.00 { 99+, AQs+, AQo+ } Hand 1: 50.184% 49.22% 00.96% 318570540 6243024.00 { JJ } AND YOU ALSO have an EP raiser with no reads whose hand you have no idea about. |

[/ QUOTE ] This range is probably too loose and the EP raiser is calling whenever he dominates you (probably 1/3 of the time) This is a fold. QQ is a lot closer... |

Re: Weak or good fold?
It can't be weak, if his reads are just as good as yours. Without reads its "straightforward" play. villain is committing himself, and screaming it. Not sure of the skill level in these, but I don't think AA or KK are raising so much, giving you only QQ to worry about. I still think you made the right move, as theres plenty of time to outplay. Fold. |
