His raise is rather large, I'm not sure what to make of it.

Playing AQs in this situation to me seems to be raise/fold. Calling builds a big pot and you are OOP, which is one of the things you try to avoid as much as possible.

Raising a standard 3-bet amount, to 14000-16000 would commit over half of your stack, so you are better off pushing if you decide to raise.

I don't have the time to do any math right now, but I think that pushing AQ here has +ev, which is better than folding.

So I think I would push unless I have a read that the raiser is a super-nit and only raises JJ+ and AK in this spot.

he had only been at the table a few orbits, no real hands except KK [looking at it in Poker tracker], and he slow played that one till someone pushed on him on the flop.

I'd need a helluva good read on the villain to even think about folding this.

The shove is fine. Calling OOP for ~20% of your stack is bad.

Your M is just under 10, so it's meh.

You're getting called a lot, though. Unless I know he's capable of raise/folding in that seat, this is the least I'd consider shoving.
