Default Overbetting?

hey bit of a noob question, but in what situation, if any, should you overbet the pot i never do but wondered if it is used just to not fall into a routine. am rly talking about situations other than pushing the flop with a combo draw. any comments welcome

Good question. Maybe something like a multiway pot with top set on a draw-heavy board.

I would push if there is a raise and a r/r in front of me.
Not sure if that is an overbet though.

I'm not sure if I like this play to be honest. Putting him on the lone J is pretty thin.

Sure if I know he has a J i'm shoving, but how can we be sure.
I would honestly prefer to be for value here instead of shoving and losing $9 (or so) worth of value.

only other hands i can see him calling flop raise and turn bet would be a set (which probably would have RR) , KQ and a J not much else..i was like 90 percent sure he has a J tho

AQ?
A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (or even just any QT if he's loose)

Maybe OESD. Some middle pairs with strong kickers.

He may have floated and redrawn the flush draw on the turn. Villain has a wide range here IMO.

this villain would have raised PF with AQ or AK..and no i dont think he has that wide of a range ...and im not getting any value anywayz from hands like QK , busted str8 draws/flsh draws and such ... his line is usually TPGK IMO..

What does he call for $9 that he doesn't call for a push?

Specific read/stats on villain?

I've seen many times villain just call with AQ/AK on the button. Many passive nits out there (especially on FTP).

Read-dependant ofcourse, but villain could be on such a range:

9T
QK
AK
AQ
QT
KT
QQ (he may repop this but i've seen this played very passively)
