$1.10 - Is this a donk bet?

Flop: (t180) 5[[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]], 8[[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]], 3[[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]] (6 players) SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 checks, MP1 bets t30, CO calls t30, Hero raises to t210, SB folds, BB folds, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls t180, CO folds. Turn: (t630) Q[[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]] (2 players) MP1 bets t630</font>, Hero ???. No reads on villian. I raise thinking I can get top pair and draws to fold and I can get away if reraised. The villian leading for the pot on the turn surprised me after his min bet on the flop. Is this set all the time? Can't figure the Q hit him. Seemed like an odd play. Your move? Comments on other streets welcome. |

Re: $1.10 - Is this a donk bet?
i wouldn't even bother raising the flop. we're playing the 6s purely for set value, so when we don't flop a set, we're done with the hand (with a few exceptions like a 345 flop or something with all unders, still gotta proceed cautiously). turn's a definite fold, not even worth it. save yourself the chips next time and just fold to the min-bet on the flop.

Re: $1.10 - Is this a donk bet?
Many of the players at $1.10 are truly awful so you should never think "this is an X all the time" since the really bad players can play ATC many different ways.
After the flop you should be hitting fold at every opportunity. Betting into 6 people with 2nd pair is not a good idea. At At $1.10 it is almost impossible to get top pairs to fold. Pot sized bets are a bit iffy on getting draws to fold since many of these players love draws. You should just be playing 66 for set value. I would fold even for 30 more on the flop since a 6 on the turn/river will get straights there & someone may check raise. You can solidly beat $1.10 by simply playing very very tight L1-L3 and then use ICM at higher levels. |

Re: $1.10 - Is this a donk bet?
stop trying to make players fold TP and weak draws, etc. We make money so often because they DONT fold those hands. Especially stop doing this in $1 SNGs.
