NL50 - Bottom Set on a monotone board in a mw pot
SB is 25/10 about 100 hands. Not a bad player, fairly tight.
Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter) SB: $72.60 BB: $50.00 UTG: $53.75 MP: $72.70 CO: $32.25 Hero (BTN): $87.35 Preflop: Hero is dealt 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 Players) UTG calls $0.50, MP calls $0.50, CO folds, Hero calls $0.50, SB calls $0.25, BB checks Flop: ($2.50) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 Players) SB bets $1.50, BB folds, UTG calls $1.50, MP raises to $4.00, Hero raises to $17.25, SB raises all-in to $72.10, Hero ? Can I consider a laydown here? His shove looks like a re-raise is what villain hoped for. And we are not HU. Thoughts? |

Re: NL50 - Bottom Set on a monotone board in a mw pot
You're really only worried about 33 here and the odds of flopping a flush are pretty damn low. I just don't see it being narrow enough to fold. You'll see plenty of 2-pairs and TPs and strong FDs here. Flush boards like this are often like a game of chicken because players often assume the other is on a draw so a huge pot can build on just pairs even. The fact that it's a family pot complicates things tremendously though.
Interesting spot. Maybe someone can make a case for folding. Any other reads? |

its only costing you 55 to call into about 100 here, so you pretty much have to call considering all the hands villain could have.

Re: NL50 - Bottom Set on a monotone board in a mw pot
what's happened to UTG and MP? They both folded?
Hm. you are getting about 2:1 which is about right to fill up. It's very close. If you think that villain might play a combo draw like this like AdTx or 5d4d or something like that, it's a pretty trivial call. It gets even easier when villain would slowplay AA or KK preflop. But that's unlikely. If you think that villain is really tight so that he will either have a made flush or a bigger set here, it's a close fold. |

Re: NL50 - Bottom Set on a monotone board in a mw pot
There were five players pf. It's not hard to think the push has a made weak flush. My question would be what what we put MP on? Flush as well? Top pair, Ad kicker? I think the range we put MP on is essential for a decision b/c he may have a higher set (unlikely), but at the very least has one or two or our possible outs, which will of course screw with our equity in the hand, particularly against yet another opponent with a [potentially] better made hand like a flush. WHAT HAPPENED?

Re: NL50 - Bottom Set on a monotone board in a mw pot
Think I would have just called MP's raise in hopes of filling up on a later street, and even then proceed with caution. If SB comes over the top again on flop I think I would just fold, but that might be just nitty me. I don't think SB would push with less than a set here, overpair with diamond would have probably raised pre-flop and hands for two pair either would have been dumped pre-flop, or can't feel to good after a raise and call/reraise on the flop.
Usually when I encounter these situations it is after a stretch of not hitting anything and I'm like "yeaj, finally flopped a set...' only to loose a bunch of chips. |
