Folding AA pf first hand of tourney...
What are your comments on this post, specifically folding AA the first hand of a tourney?
[ QUOTE ] besides folding to qualify in satellites, taking the hypothetical to silly extents, if i was in a tournie with AA in the first hand, and 6 people pushed all in in front of me, I would fold . Of course there would be an argument that you would get such a big lead its worth it, and its totally dependant on the size of tournie, level of players, etc, but if theory I could lay down AA there. Say you are against QQ, J10s, 78s, AKs, then you are only a 43% chance to win. If someone else held AA as well you would be splitting if youre lucky. Again, I know this is extreme, and the pot odds would be massive, but i think there could be a case for folding here, especially if its a big tournie and really poor players [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Folding AA pf first hand of tourney...
I would never fold this, not even in the first hand of a satellite.
I don't even think you can come up with a reason why you should fold on the first hand. I don't think there is much more to be said. |

Re: Folding AA pf first hand of tourney...
Uhh, even if you aren't a favorite (in the sense of > 50% to win a hand), you are stupid for folding.
If everyone went all-in in front of me and I was in the BB, I would call even if I was only 20% to win the hand. In big-buy in tournaments almost no one goes all-in on the first hand, so the argument that "if the payouts are big and the players suck, you should fold because you can outplay them later" is bogus. Why would anyone pass up a situation to double/triple/quadruple up on the first hand of a tournament with the BEST possible hand. You should only fold AA preflop if you hate money (and Sklansky bucks). |

Re: Folding AA pf first hand of tourney...
My response to this is that if I see one more of these post "fold AA" posts, I'm going to...well, I'm going to do nothing, but still, these posts [censored] suck massively. Please, Pants, you're posts are highly respected here, why did you do this? You just made me very, very sad.

Re: Folding AA pf first hand of tourney...
I assume theres some twist here and the post was made by Patrik Antonius or somebody, cause you can't seriously be asking this damn question again. (Not that you specifically have asked it before, but it does come up fairly often in this forum)

Re: Folding AA pf first hand of tourney...
These hypothetical "I can fold aces becasue I'm so good and a deep thinker" posts rarely make sense.... and this one is no different. Shove your chips in the middle, not your hand in the muck. Silly.

Re: Folding AA pf first hand of tourney...
suppose you're in the big blind w/ aa, and everyone goes allin ahead of you. it's a sat that pays 4 spots (like the sunday million fpp sats). i think it's safe to fold in this EXTREME situation.
