Yep, other than the watching it for comedy. There ain't much to learn cause there is to much god dam editing on all TV poker shows. Finals heads up is always like heads up. AND EVERY GOD DAM [censored] HAND IS ALL IN. IM ALL IN YEP IM GOING ALL IN. BIG KK AGAIN. ALL IN. Not much to learn. Unless you watch those pay per view where they SHOW EVERY HAND tv poker sucks.

I'm glad that a lot of these poorly made and produced poker shows have gone away. Now we basically only have the WSOP, WPT, Heads Up and HSP.
WSOP, WPT and Heads Up can be OK to watch once and a while particularly when they have a table with some decent pros and/or fun players. HSP is really "Must See" and by far the best poker show ever made and you can actually learn a lot about how to play no-limit cash games by watching it. |

High Stakes poker is actually quite good for guys that play poker.
Final table tournaments are just plain fun to watch. Plus, since most live players aren't at at final table very often, it's actually instructive to see how often "all-in" is correct. The whole thing about calling an allin based on the Sklansky-Chirkov (or whatever) number is really quite interesting. But most I just watch for fun. The mult-part series on the WPT that follow all the stages of a tournament was great too. Finally, the heads-up play is fun just because that kind of game is so different than full ring that I enjoy watching to see how pros do it. I have very little live experience heads up, most because I play at limits where my bankroll isn't large enough to play heads up properly. So, I guess I'd have to disagree with the OP. I like almost all of the televised poker. For some reason, however, I don't like the Mansion poker PokerDome very much. But I still watch it instead of the news or M*A*S*H reruns. |
