Default Hold\'em rules: movement of the button

Usually the button goes clockwise from one player to the next. I wonder are there any exceptions to this rule?

Yes, there are times in tournament play when the button will not move during a hand. This happens when a player has been eliminated that will cause a player to miss his blinds due to the movement of the button. (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong.)

See Robert's Rules for more info.
