Default Flush on the river with paired board

Opponent is 42/5/1.1 over 436 hands.
Can I really give him credit for the house on the river and just call his bet? I'm thinking he probably does this with a slowplayed AA or KK, maybe AQ.

i would just call the river bet. He is a really tight raiser preflop, so i would give him a hand which beats yours (a pair of Jacks to the nut flush).
i do not think he would play AA or KK like this.

How about a min vale raise on the river? You could get called by worse flushes and a Q, and can ditch it if villian pushes.

By the way, cold calling a 5%PFRer with K9s???

min raising the river is retarded. If you were the button and the CO min raised then 3 bet him, hes obv bad if hes 45/9 or whatever so you get to take down heaps of flops. As played....hmm... i hate these rivers, kind of feels like "have to raise for value" but by the same token you know you hate being 3 bet AI on the river cause your prob beat, for that reason sometimes i just call, but always feel stupid when they show up with AQ. That beaing said, i think ur beat when he shoves.

I don't no, I kinda like the minraise?
the preflop call, It's a little thin although I have pos and it's a minraise. Thinking I can stack him if I flop a monster.

I hate preflop, he is probably very transparent but you really don't have a good hand. As for the river, I raise but not so much. When a very very passive villian overbets the river (usually means a monster or complete bluff) and you raise pot. I would have made it 50-60$ more. You sort of have to call in case he is going crazy with KK,AA,AQs and cause you are only beat by a flopped house or quads.

One thing I would like to note, these opponents are not people with whom you wanna get in situations like this. Your hand is strong, but vs this guys range it really really isn't. Putting in a lot of money on a paired board, vs a passive opponent who overbet the river when you don't even have the nut flush is not a profitable strategy.

raising river at all is so bad unless you have evidence he's a huge maniac.

like call >>>>>>>>> minraise and fold to a push >>> big raise vs. most people IMO.

if you KNOW he's a huuuuge fish/maniac then you can raise big on river.

edit: if the bet was more normal sized i would like a minraise.

jimmyhat - Are you just calling it retarded because you heard it somewhere that a minraise is dumb?

OP - just call the river. This sort of river overbet might be a bluff (which can't call a raise), but usually it's a monster (which beats you) making raising no good. Anything you beat can probably fold to the raise here.
