.5/1NL: QQ on a K882 board facing AI
Villain had attempted to steal my blinds the last 4 orbits on the button and from SB and had folded to one 3 bet. Hes running at 42/35 (small sample). Havent played with him before.
I really wanted to snap call this bet... what do you all think? Bet the turn, then you have an easy call when he pushes which by nature he will.

If he does in fact have a K in his hand, I dont see how betting with only a PSB left would be of any use if you are trying to get him to push over you.

Fold turn. While it seems like a bluff, going all-in is really his only option if he is going to bet at all in relation to the pot because if not he will be 100% pot committed anyway.

I vote fold on the turn also. Is the flop bet really a good idea? Can we just check instead or will he autobet if we check there?

Re: .5/1NL: QQ on a K882 board facing AI
swing, he was pretty aggro from the hands that I have seen him play. So you are suggesting a c/c c/f line? seems somewhat weak?
My thought process during this hand was that I dont think his 3bet calling range includes and 8, KQ is unlikely since I hold 2 of the queens. Do most people bet this turn with AK on a relatively nonthreatening board or do they check the turn and hope that I take another stab at it on the river? KJ could play like this but I dont think KK or AA play as villian did either. 99-JJ could play this way... |

Re: .5/1NL: QQ on a K882 board facing AI
I guess I'm trying to clarify why we are betting on the flop. Building the pot doesn't make much sense because of the scare card on board. I've never liked the idea of "raising for info" as it almost always seems like BS excuse to raise. Here it makes even less sense, because if the villain calls, we really haven't gained any info. He could have smaller pp, Kx, or if he's good, he could float. So that leaves betting to protect your hand with one scare card out there. If that's what we're doing, you need to raise more - something like $35 or so.

Re: .5/1NL: QQ on a K882 board facing AI
yes, i guess we dont want to build a pot and I might have fell into the win every 3 bet pot mindset. Is your standard line here to check the flop, call a reasonable bet and then hope that it goes c/c on the turn with this type of villain?
I think im stuck on this hand because of these results: j7 no spades |
