Default Aba down a million

I had a very bad session tonight at 1K/2K with a 400 ante. I lost just over a million dollars. I think I played well and was very sharp so I am not two disappointed with the loss. I prefer to play well and lose than play poorly and win. There were two hands which determined the outcome of the night and both were played against Sammy Farha.

The first hand occurred when he had about 300K in front of him. He raised UTG in a 7 handed game and I repoped with QJT9 double suited. He then 4 bet me with AKK6 with AK of clubs. I called and we saw a flop of Q94 with two clubs. He potted the flop for about 100K and I moved in. Turn came a 4 and river was a blank costing me the pot.

The second hand occurred a few hours later. I had about 700K in front of me at the time and Sammy covered. Sammy limped UTG and Bobby Baldwin raised the pot to 9K. I repotted it to 32K total with KK77ds (hearts and clubs). Sammy called as well as Bobby. We took the flop 3 handed and saw 9s 3h 2h. Sammy and Bobby both checked and I bet the pot of about 100K. Sammy thought a bit and called, Bobby folded. The turn came the T of hearts giving me the second nuts. Sammy checked and I fired 200K which he called. When he just called I was 95% sure that he didn't have the nut flush as he would usually shove the turn with it. The river brought the nine of spades and he moved in on me for about 400K. I called and was shown 669T single suited with 9 high hearts.

I don't know how I feel about my river call. I have to be right about 26% of the time but I really didn't feel like he was bluffing. That said Sammy is a very tricky opponent and I had the only hand that beat me was T9 since he is raising the flop with any two pair hand based on the preflop action. I was for sure value betting any river and I suspect he would have called with his 9 high flush since he would be getting very compelling odds and I could easily have the naked ace. I think I played the hand very well except for the river which is somewhat debatable. Sometimes things don't go your way in poker, as well as life, and you have to get back at it the next day. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully I can put in a winning session.
