Story behind matt damon and jimmy kimmel

Just cursious as to the story behind why kimmel says sorry matt damon we ran out of time. The only thing i can find is when he was on the show and blew up. But the joke was already running when that happend. Any help thanks.

At the end of ever "the jimmy kimmel show" kimmel says something along the lines of "apologizes to matt damon we ran out of time" or something to that extent. He does it every show and I'm curious to how it started.
