Default AIM musings on full ring nl (medium-low content)

somedude: i feel like i want to drop back down to 50 and like 9 table
somedude: get my tightness back
somedude: i feel like im playing too much poker and not enough cards
renton: don't multitable six max
somedude: i know ;/
somedude: i think im gonna drop down tho
somedude: my 100nl confidence is shizzot
renton: if you want to nit it up and play zillions of tables, then fr is the way to go
renton: if you want to play few tables and have a high winrate then six max is the way
somedude: i want to make money, i dont care where ;p
renton: well
renton: 1/2 fr on stars, 92000 hands, 15%vpip 3.1ptbb/100
somedude: but youre significantly better at NL than I am ;p
somedude: im up for giving it a try though
somedude: at the least the RB is nice
somedude: whats your UTG range and your button range?
renton: 11%, 25%
renton: yours should be lower
renton: because you are just starting, and because you are playing lower
somedude: simple 'nuff
renton: basically you should almost always fold to a flop raise
renton: and keep note on people who do it too much
renton: since they will be few
renton: my stats are like 15/12 with 34% attempt to steal
renton: i raise limpers A LOT
somedude: limpers = pp's pretty much all the time at FR right
renton: if there are two limper is middle position i'll raise probably 20% of my cards on teh button
renton: limpers in*
renton: yeah
renton: and you'll find some people who limp big hands, make notes etc
somedude: 11% UTG seems pretty high
renton: yeah it is
somedude: thats like ATo lol
renton: its probably slightly neg ev
somedude: 8% sounds better for me
renton: replace ATo and stuff with the small pairs
somedude: true
somedude: raising 22-66ish UTG?
renton: here is precisely my range
renton: give or take some random cards i raise sometimes
renton: 22+, AQo+, ATs+, KJs, KQs, T9s, JTs, QJs,
renton: sometimes i muck the very small pairs, sometimes the sc
somedude: sounds good
renton: especially if therere a lot of short stacks
renton: i raise limpers with any two cards over 9 and any pair
renton: sometimes i limp along these hands, but if i feel raising is better then i raise
somedude: the idea being that your range is wide enough they cant nutcamp
renton: yep
renton: plus position etc
renton: position = money
renton: you win the pot a lot preflop
renton: you win the pot even more on the flop
somedude: makes sense
renton: sometimes you flop a straight or something and win a stack
renton: otherwise you just lose a cbet or a 2nd barrel
renton: get up if theres a light 3betting tag to your immediate left
renton: get up if there are many shortstacks to your left
renton: monitor your image
renton: like, don't raise 4 hands in a row just because "i always raise 30% of my hadns on teh button" or whatever
somedude: ja
renton: 3bet preflop almost 100% of the time that you feel your hand beats an openers range, or is 45-50% vs it
renton: especially if that opener is a goo dplayer
renton: raise a very wide range from the sb or bb when a late position guy open limps
renton: eg ATo
renton: raise?
renton: wat?
somedude: 3bet preflop almost 100% of the time that you feel your hand beats an openers range, or is 45-50% vs it
somedude: nm
somedude: you said pre
renton: yeah
somedude: and i cant read
renton: dont defend blinds hardly at all
renton: except vs players with pfr>10
renton: 3bet them a ton
renton: with like AJ+ KQ 22+
renton: (not all of that range, but some of it)
somedude: ok
renton: open sb vs bb with the same range u open button, abour 35+% of your hands
renton: raise openlimping sb's fromt he bb with about the same range
renton: fold to limpreraises
renton: bet Kxx flop with atc even if multiway
renton: on like Q44 flops either c/f the flop or bet the flop and the turn, e.g. don't bet flop and c/f turn ever
renton: flop sets
renton: get all in pre with AA
renton: cashmoney
renton: dollar dollar bill yall
somedude: lol
renton: i think im going to paste this convo in a thread on 2p2
renton: its as condensed as my fr wisdom can possibly be

Later...

somedude: so youre only 3betting AK/QQ+ against unknowns?
renton: yeah pretty much
renton: and sometimes not even that
somedude: sheesh
somedude: nitastic
somedude: which is o
somedude: ok
renton: its not really a matter of that
renton: AK QQ+ owns their raising range
renton: but its an exception to my "3bet pre if you are ahead rule"
somedude: because they can nutcamp it profitably
renton: well
renton: i 3bet AK QQ+ 100% vs most
renton: but if a tight player opens utg or utg1
renton: i'll just call
renton: the worst thing is to JUST 3bet AA/KK
renton: there are 3 3betting mindset you should have
renton: 1. Never 3bet
somedude: lol
renton: 2. 3bet AK QQ+
renton: 3. 3bet every hand that beats their range
renton: 1 applies to people who you feel that coldcalling AA is plus-er ev vs than 3betting AA
renton: e.g. a tighter raisor utg
renton: 2 applies to your unknown who raises from mid-late position, or a tight player who raises from mid to late position
renton: 3 applies to laggs and good taggs
renton: does this make sense?
somedude: yeah
somedude: means i need a faster PC.
somedude: PAhud is dying here
renton: , and theres a 4. that only applies to good tags, which is, 3bet every ahnd that beats their range, PLUS 3bet a bunch of random suited connectors and small pairs and pwn them until they fourbet A2o out of frustation

Great post.

I few I don't 3 bet enough. When you do it, how much is your raise? Do you pot bet or make it 3-4 times the initial raise?

Pot size is usually between 3 and 4 times the initial raise unless someone's called the raise and you're squeezing. Then it's closer to 5 times the raise.

1pokerboy: maybe idk

gm: I don't raise ATo utg, i raise like ATs+ AQ+

klompy: raising

Marcus: if someone opens for 4, i make it like 22, if someone opens for 6, i make it 24, if someone makes it 8, i make it 26 if i have position, and 28-30 if im in the blinds. If they make it 30, i make it 32-34. If theres a raise plus call, i make it 4x the opening raise, maybe more. (p.s. this is all 1/2nl)
