Did I mess this up completly?

I'd call for pot control on the flop because your raise isn't doing anything but bloating the pot for a monster draw for him/Ax.

The turn changes nothing, so a call is fine.

The river completes qj,76s straight. Villain will have a weak ace/busted FD/6-T straight/two pair/air here.

I'd like to know villains AF before we continue on turn.

I call flop and fold turn. It's just a random ace in my opinion I don't think you are good here enough to make that call. You've pretty much told him you don't have an Ace by calling him down.

with an AF of .65 this is an easy muck then.

What made me suspicious was that he hesitated before any bet in this hand, which he didnt do in previous hands (neither in bluffin nor in normal strength hands)

generally, quick means weak and long means strong.

If you have to wait, you're considering how much you're going to bet to get the sucker to call.
