Possibly boring river decision
20/40 live
BB (villain) is a 40 year old middle eastern looking guy. Literally just sat down this hand and doesn't have chips to call preflop yet (he has them for the flop). I would just naturally assume a slightly LAG read on these types of fellows, but thats just experience. I open in LMP with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Kinda fishy lady cold calls, old guy in SB who is talking about "respect for the game" blah blah calls, BB calls. Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet, only BB calls. Turn: 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet, BB check/raises in tempo, I call. River: 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] BB bets, |

Umm. What's the second option? Fold?

Re: Possibly boring river decision
Pretty easy smooth call with no read yet...raising/folding to a 3-bet is a great line against some opponents, since 89 got there on the turn and is a reasonable holding, but it's too risky against a complete unknown.

Re: Possibly boring river decision
Against an unkown quantity, and getting 10/1 on my money, I call him down. He's probably going to show you a flush, but at least 1/10 of the time he'll have something you can beat.
It is also a nice dividend to see what he has here. He might have a pair, or JT, and use the flush card on the river for a bluff. bc |
