Dell Inspiron 1720/1710 second hard drive?

I just ordered a new Vostro 1700 (new line introduced today that is essentially the same computer as the Inspiron 1720/1710). It comes with a 160 GB primary hard drive and an empty secondary hard drive slot (because I didn't upgrade to a second drive with Dell).

I cannot seem to find any hard drive specifications in the documentation for the Inspiron 1720/1710 or the Vostro 1700 other than the fact that it is a 2.5 inch SATA drive. Knowing just this information, do you think:

(1) that any internatl SATA 2.5 inch drive I purchase will work in this notebook
(2) that I will need to do any BIOS configuration or other technical manauevering to get a second hard drive to work (i.e., would a second hard drive be essentially plugnplay?)
