Faro
Yes, I mean the old game of luck, played in the wild west....
The rules are very simple: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faro_%28card_game%29 and http://www.bcvc.net/faro/index.htm (very good!) You can play it online with playmoney: http://www.gleeson.us/faro/ (need flash) My question: The faro dealing box contains the deck with the front side up. That means everyone can see the next card (the lose card)? Where are the old gambler and can explain it? |

Re: Faro
The only card the players would see is the soda, which is not wagered. When the soda is drawn, the first loser is displayed -- when the loser is drawn, the winner is displayed. The winner remains in the box until the next draw.

Re: Faro
that means the winner is only viewable in the box and will be drawed as soda in the next round?

Re: Faro
Correct. The dealer will remove the previous winner, and the current loser, placing the current loser face up on the "loser" pile -- at which point the current loser is on the top of the pile, and the current winner is in the box.

Re: Faro
What is the reason that faro is not offered in casinos.
The bank edge is 2.9%. The cheating problem is not higher as with other card games like Baccarat or Black Jack. |

Re: Faro
When the case shows three cards out (leaving "the case card"), there can be no tie -- and the house has no advantage. A lot of players (like counters) would make only token bets when at a disadvantage.

Re: Faro
Its possible to play faro with more decks in a shoe like BJ or Baccarat.
And with a cut card even like BJ and Baccarat. That should help against this "counters". |

Here Evil swedes equipment:
http://www.bcvc.net/faro/equipment.htm (Is it not linked from the page?) Nice dealing box but manufactured and therefor a little bit expensive. |

Re: Faro
It would be an interesting game to open just for ambience -- which is all many table games are.

Re: Faro
If you ever read Nick the Greek Dandalos book he was a big time faro fan and player it was perhaps his favorite game. Its been a while since I read but I think he said casinos did not like faro because the vig was so low.
