AQ with interesting flop 4/180
I just wanted to check and see what you guys would be thinking here. I really wasn't sure what I could be ahead of here. No reads except that villian hasn't played a hand for the 6 hands I've been at this table.

Re: AQ with interesting flop 4/180
I can't figure out a hand that plays like this that you're ahead of except maybe AJ. I really think he would have had to hit this flop pretty hard to be able to raise you. Your UTG raise shows some strength, so he has to figure you for a strong hand.
You are getting 2750:1000 = 2.7:1 odds to call one more card. You're going to need like 12-13 outs to justify a call here and you're not getting anywhere close. It's a tough situation, but I really don't know how to proceed here except to fold and save your chips. |

Oh Mike and your constant c-bets.
Check this flop please. The only card you really don't like is a Q on the turn. Everything else is good and the only hands you can really get value from is KQ (if villain is bad) or AJ. I'd fold to this raise btw, you might already be drawing to 3 outs or less. |

Sherman,
How do you respond to a bet by MP2 when we check the flop? It really doesn't tell us anything about the hand and where we stand. |

Re: AQ with interesting flop 4/180
Might I add here that checking it does allow us to call and see the next card much cheaper that c-betting?
Also Sherman I think my c-betting comes from a live poker background where it works much better. I'm working on it ha ha. |

Re: AQ with interesting flop 4/180
Yes, but alot of the time that turn card won't help you unless you hit 2 aces, 3 queens, or 4 jacks, so you want about 4:1 odds to call the flop. If you check, and he bets 500 on the flop, you aren't getting the odds to call, correct?
I do see how check/calling is a good option here, and you might even get a free card. A lot of the time, though, I see us check/calling the flop, and then having to check/fold the turn, where we could have just taken a different line. Am I even making any sense? |

Re: AQ with interesting flop 4/180
Really Sherman should be responding but I'm thinking the point of check/calling is that it allows villian to bet with a wider range. These added hands to his range make our hand have a high EV against villian.

Hands which he is likely to fold or to play more correctly if we bet. |

I like the check call flop check fold turn.. we are never ahead here as played, I think it's a snap fold.

Re: AQ with interesting flop 4/180
OK, the villain bet t500 the flop and the hero call. What the value here? He could be betting here with AK-A8, KQ-KJ, QJ, or any pocket pair, trying to take the pot dow.
I think the hero have to bet this flop, trying to see where he is playing against.. |
