Default Last Year\'s Party Poker Million

For those of you that played in last year's PPM tournament....could you describe the caliber of players? Were there many casual/weak players (who won their seat), or mostly very tough players....??

Thanks............

It means he played in it, thus he's more qualified to answer your question.

Mostly weaker players who won their way in online. As an added bonus many of the players don't really know how to play limit hold 'em. Matter of fact I came across more than one person who said he wasn't even aware it was a limit tourney until he showed up at the tables. Seriously, I'm not the worlds biggest socialite either, I mean, I probably randomly talked to 15-20 players the whole week, so about 10% had no clue we were playing limit until the day of the tourney...

I believe EV bonanza is the best description of this tourney for a good limit player...

It means he played in it, and is excited to be going again so is opening every single one of these threads on this very topic.

The competition played pretty much like a typical party-poker tournament.
If you're reasonably confident playing in a tourney on party you should be okay in the PPM.
Deeper stacks to start of course..and different payout structure. But as far as the actual quality of competition I wasn't impressed at all.

It was my first ever live-tourney and I finished in the money if that tells you anything.

WOW....that's pretty funny.

What limit Party games do you think best resemble the play?

Hi,

I played in the PPM last year. Won my seat via the 200/15 limit tournament.

All the tables I played at resembled 5/10 more then 3/6. The players were weak, but not loose. You would find a few who would over defend their BB, but rarely was it as bad as 3/6.

Everyones experience will be different because everyone had different draws and made it into different stages of the tournaments.

Playing the players is very important, something a lot of online players don't do well. So they are very weak in that regards as well.

And yes, you will find most people qualified via NL tournaments and think its a NL tournament till they get on the boat. The final table of the last PPM is a good represention of all the tables I sat at. Mainly because I sat with two of the guys who made.

Later,
MarkV.
