Default Pokertracker and other software

I see alot of posts that mention this type of software. Is it really nec. to use these. Does it really give you an advantage and help you find your leaks? I looked at a friends and it seems impossibley difficult to understand. Which one is the best to use and why?

I recently started to use PT and it has helped my game considerably. I recommend using PAHUD with it as it helps keep track of how your opponents are playing. As to how difficult it is to use....it's just like anything else worth learning. In my opinion it's worth every second .

I never used to use any poker software, in fact I'd turn it off if any were running on my computer, but since I've learnt to use them properly (Poker tracker & HUD especially) I feel I've come on a lot, its a lot easier than just writing notes on people and if you're playing lots of tables you can see peoples stats instantly so you have more of a read on people without having to watch every move. IMO, definately worth the investment.
Slightly off topic, but things like cardrunners & SNGicons are worth looking into if you're serious about learning the game.

I've never been able to get PAHUD to work properly, but I'm pretty happy with GT+.
