Default Beal vs. Ivey: 30k/60k, 2/21 and 2/22 @ wynn

(post edited to make is more fair-use-y -Dids)

The following is a brief summary of the action since Tuesday.
For articles covering February’s events (as they happened), click on the links provided at the end of this report.

Tuesday, 21 February –
Play began in the late afternoon and blinds were set at $30k-60k, lower than the previous $50k-100k of the weeks past. Ivey seemed to hold the lead throughout the day’s match. Spectators in the high limit section of the Wynn poker room, who witnessed much of the action, shared their thoughts with Card Player. Most felt Ivey had exhibited an aggressive approach. In typical fashion, he sat blank faced, focused and with his mouth agape. Ivey has an intense and intimidating nature at any table and the one-on-one competition with Beal only seemed to magnify this trait.

Play ended at around 7 p.m. PST and it appeared Ivey was up several racks. It was confirmed by a member of the Corporation that the number was $2 million in Ivey’s and the Corporation’s favor.

Wednesday, 22 February –
First thing Wednesday morning, Ivey and Beal were again heads-up at the felt on table 3 at the Wynn. Blinds remained at $30k-60k and again, Ivey seemed to have an advantage over Beal.

In less than eight hours of heightened competition, Ivey ended the day with another monetary gain of over $4.5 million.

Ivey and Beal left the table of the poker room together while they conversed amongst themselves.

Note: A source close to Howard Lederer confirmed that he was a long time member of the Corporation and had also considered coming out of retirement for a repeat run against Beal.

Play is scheduled to commence at 9 a.m. PST on Thursday.

There's an assload of info on the bluff forums about it, too.. It's a pretty clear error that they meant to use 'limits' instead of blinds.

Word on the street is that Howard doesn't play many cash games for the past few years, he has focused on his businesses and tournament instead.

Howard hasn't played poker during the last two years, instead focusing his attention on the business side, especially FT.

Damn, that's crazy. And a little sad, Lederer was cool.

I could have sworn he had a seat at the WSOP last year?
I would guess that he just doesn't play very much. Pulling a couple of million off of Beal would probably peak his interest though.

From page 7 on the bluff forum thread...

"They flipped a coin for $50,000 at the end of the day."
