Default 25NL (9Max): 77, scared of an overcard.

Not so much read on Villain. He seems to be a bit calling happy. Should I fire Turn or River for value?

Just to nit-pick I bet $3.50-$4 on the flop.

The rest is good. I feel pretty good about your hand on the end, but there's not much value in a bet. If 88-QQ called the flop they are likely to call again, Kx calls, and the missed draws that you beat fold anyway.

I'd have bet the turn and checked river. Is it fine also?

I don't think betting turn is a good idea. Not too much hands would call Flop but fold a blank Turn.

I agree that not a lot of hand will call. However, there are a lot of hands you don't want to give a free card. These paired board can go both ways. Given your read I would lean towards betting here, but checking is fine too. If your read was "villain calls too much" I would say betting the turn is better.
