Default Your Top 5 Favorite Poker Rooms

Since I've only been in 5, I can't be much help

BTW, I play low limits, so for those who play high limits, it probably doesn't apply.

Everything is a factor, quality of players, quality of dealers/floor/customer service/cage, quality of chairs, quality of tables/felt

#1. Seneca Allegany Casino, Salamanca NY -- Nice 16 table room, All the low limit games. Rarely have trouble getting a seat, and when you are on the waiting list they give you one of those vibrating/flashing coasters that go off when your seat is ready, so you can go roam the casino floor or do whatever while waiting for a seat. Quality dealers, very rarely have any problems calling the floor due to a dealer mishap. TONS of money to be made at the 1/2, 2/5 NL games. It's a small casino and the poker room is right there at the door as you directly go in, there's no wandering around the entire casino looking for it. Only gripe is the max buy-in to these NL games, but otherwise, I love this place!

#2. Harrah's, Atlantic City NJ -- Love the nice atmosphere this little room has. They got all the low limit games I'm looking floor. The dealers are competant enough. The floor guys are spectacular. Very personable and humorous. Everytime I play there it's such a relaxed, light atmosphere. The chips are unique and kinda neat with the denomination coin surrounded by clay. Very enjoyable room.

#3. Borgata, Atlantic City NJ -- I'm not a gigantic fan of this place, but it's better the other two places I've played at below. Quality dealers, decent floor. Lots of tables but you can never get a seat if you go there at the wrong times.! Waiting more than an hour for a seat is absolutely ridiculous IMO. Good chairs, Decent atmosphere. Chips stick.

#4. Taj Mahal, Atlantic City NJ -- I'd rather play poker in a dumpster, I'd catch less diseases anyway. They should of shower rooms installed just as you leave this room, like the hose-offs they have on the beaches.

#5. Showboat, Atlantic City NJ -- Terrible felt, Terrible dealers, Terrible Floor, Terrible Location within the casino. Just a miserable experience when I went to this place. I heard they changed the felt and other stuff since, but still, this place just left a bad taste in my mouth (maybe it was because I flopped a middle-set of 9s vs top set of Ks before getting busted in 1-2 NL). Anyway. I would probably never go back to this place. I had to get seriously drunk (probably a dozen coronas) just to enjoy myself there, and that nearly resulted in me getting into a fist fight with some little d!ckhead.

Alright, your Top 5?

1) The Bellagio

It's The Bellagio. Gorgeous room, dealers are relatively good, people are there to love poker, and you can play pretty much any limit you want. Oh, and the drinks (I drink non-alcoholic stuff at the table) are considerably better than they are elsewhere.

2) The Borgata

Eight zillion times nicer than any other Atlantic City casino, and the poker room shows it. Plenty of games and good action. Chips are weird but clean. Staff can be snotty but, eh, whatever, still a nice room.

3) Foxwoods

Where I cut my teeth, poker-wise. Tons and tons of tables. Lacks some of the glitz, but they do a lot of things right and the action's good and it was home for a while. Also, they let you eat at the tables.

4) The Wynn

I want to go back because I keep hearing about improvements they've made. When I was there last summer I was impressed by the quality of the tables and chips and so forth. Hard to describe, but sitting in a game there was unusually luxurious; maybe it was the novelty. They have autoshufflers and they aren't afraid to use them. I'm not much for waitress-ogling in general but... my heavens.

5) MGM Grand

Among rooms that specifically cater to the lower-limit players, this is my favorite (honorable mention: Harrah's, Atlantic City). Kept all the Vegas feel, unlike (for example) the Aladdin, which felt a little too much like the Tropicana (AC) on a slow night. The tables and rail and chips and everything were very nice. Except for #1-#4 there's no casino I'd rather play 4-8 in.

1 - The Wynn

2 - MGM Grand

I pretty much don't play anywhere else, and I have never stepped foot in the Bellagio and have lived here for 8 months

1. Grand Gulfport-No longer exists, destroyed by hurricane . But it was my favorite place to play in Mississippi. Great dealers. I see a few of them now at the IP.

2. Mandalay Bay LV - It's not perfect, but I have never lost here (5-0) so I must rate it as a favorite. Dealers not very good though. Lot's of misdeals everytime i've been there, takes forever for the floor to come over to resolve things. Should be higher caliber for a MGM/Mirage property.

3. Sams Town Tunica - Many people will disagree, primarily because of the smoking. But the dealers are great, as good
as anywhere in Vegas I've played. Good comps, free eats & coffee, freeze out tourneys, home game feel. Bar right next door so quick drinks. Lot's of drunk rednecks spewing chips most weekends.

4. Monte Carlo LV - Quiet, tasteful, intimate room. Great dealers & managers, nice casino. Laid back, high-end property. Great place for first time B&M play. Broke my cherry here couple years ago.

5. Aladdin LV - Very cool room, decent dealers, nice strip scene.

Here's mine...

1. Borgata, AC. Very nice, classy atmosphere. Only Wynn and Bellagio are as nice. Good selection of games (not great-not enough stud or omaha), competition ranges from pros to clueless, nice snack bar, bottled beer, hot waitresses.
Only negative is the AWFUL wait lists/times. Hopefully this will be rectified in the summer when they expand to 80 or so tables.

2. Tropicana, AC. Great selection of games, 40+ tables, always have stud and omaha, low limits all the time, not great for higher limits ($10/20 up), good tournaments, decent atmosphere, wait lists/times are not bad, lots of fish, and of course the infamous "pink chip game"
($7.50-15 HE).

3. MGM, Vegas. Reminds me of a nicer Tropicana, more of a younger crowd, very few rocks and crabby locals, lots of drunk fish on the weekend, no stud and omaha, great $4/8 w/half-kill & $1/2 NL, nice tables, music from adjoining club can be loud, good location. They will also spread a $3/6 or $4/8 HORSE game if enough players request it.

4. Mirage, Vegas. Used to be the best room in Vegas at one time. 30+ tables, wait times are not bad, decent selection of games ($5/10 stud and omaha run pretty regularly),
$3/6 & 6/12 are good at night/weekends, some rocks/retirees during weekdays, next to the sportsbook, overall pretty solid.

5. Grand, Tunica MS. Small room, 12 or so live tables-8 for tournaments. Really loose/wild $4/8 games, hardly a waiting list, fast waitress service, good food comps, will spread games if requested ($3/6, and $1/2 NL), $2/10 stud gets some drunks/dolts who balance out the rocks, $100 plus $30 tournament is pretty good, hardly any degenerate-types hanging around. Kinda gets overlooked by the Horseshoe and Gold Strike.

I've only been to 6, and this is basically gonna be in the order that I dislike them the least:

1) MGM
2) Excalibur
3) Borgata
4) Taj
5) Tropicana AC
6) Greektown Detroit

Okay I sort of take that back - I don't dislike MGM and Excalibur; these two are great for low limit. MGM ran a 3/6 HORSE game one night that I was there and that was one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played in. Granted that was mostly because of the make-up of the game (drunk kids like me), but props to MGM for running the interest list and actually getting it going. Excalibur is extremely friendly to beginners, in fact my first B&M session was there, circa Dec. 2003. The Borgata is fine but I'm not really that big of a fan. I don't like their floorpersons very much.

Haven't been to the Wynn or Bellagio yet but plan to hit them up when I go to Vegas next weekend. I'm hoping this changes everything. 15/30 here I come... this will be the highest I've ever played so far.

This is based on Vegas rooms only;

1. Bellagio
2. Wynn
3. MGM
4. Mirage
5. Ceasers

I was in Vegas, but had to leave the day Ceasers opened. I didn't get to see the whole room(s), but from what I saw, what I have heard, and what I have read, this should be in the top 5. When I go back in a few months, I will definitely check it out, and I'm sure it will be in my top 3.
