Sklansky says that NLHE MTTs with no antes have more skill. You?

[ QUOTE ] No Limit Format That Would Help Most Better Players [/ QUOTE ][ QUOTE ] ... for the idea. Which is to eliminate the antes. [/ QUOTE ] I'm surprised anyone would feel this way. With all the talk around raising antes, does anyone except Sklansky think that tournaments with antes offer skilled players less of an ROI than tournaments without antes? |

"No Limit Format That Would Help Most Better Players"
lol authorwhocantwritewithproperenglishaments. Oh, and his theory is also wrong because anything that make tournaments unique from cash games gives people who study the specific aspects of the game a distinct advantage. Sklansky is just a nit who has trouble adapting and therefore he would rather that the tournaments change to be more like his playing style. |

Re: Sklansky says that NLHE MTTs with no antes have more skill. You?
FWIW, anyone that thinks huge antes is the only way to go is just as wrong as Sklanksy is in the OP.
Poker is about adjusting to whatever the actual structure is. There's no "right" structure. There are "good" structures if a deep-stacked tournament is desired. There are "good" structures if a turbo/speed tournament is desired. To say that a good player has a higher expectation w/ higher antes or no antes is ridiculous. A good player is going to take advantage of whatever structure is thrown their way. So there's no antes? Tighten up some. So there's larger antes? Loosen up some. Its not that difficult. If you're not capable of tightening up enough to counteract a smaller ante than you're used to, then thats a flaw in your game - not the tournament structure. I'm also surprised how often players talk about how antes need to be larger and yet complain that the blind structure increases too quickly or stacks are too shallow. Random guess - there 2 things are probably directly related. But I'm just a broke has-been (or never-was really)... |

Here's a hint: If you raise the antes, you can have smaller blinds and effectively deeper stacks at the same cost per round. |

Then why not just switch to a pure ante that increases each level and ditch the blinds?
