Default Floor Ruling WSOP: Hidden Chips

I was reading the WSOP live reporting thread on Pokernews.com and saw that one of the tournaments last week had a hand killed because the player did not have their high denomination chips visible. There were not a lot of details available within the post (I can not find the post after an extensive search) so it's difficult to determine if this was an appropriate floor ruling.

Does anyone have any additional info on this ruling and the circumstances surrounding it?

I noticed the dealers were being very strict in making sure that the biggest chips are visible at all times. I think it's a very very very good rule, frankly.

Dunno about this case, but this used to be a common angle-shoot where the pros would hide their big chips and shove all in, someone calls light thinking they're short, and then the pro fishes out the big chips.

So it's cool if they're cracking down on this.

I think it is not only a very good rule, I believe in enforcement of it as well. It just sounded a bit extreme to kill the hand, but I guess that depends on details of the circumstances that were not given in the post. I will spend some time tomorrow trying to find the post (and the event, etc.)

I've never heard of a hand being killed for this, but I applaud the idea.

i could see hands killed in this situation after player is warned that if problem persists...then next time kill, but, never seen this done on first offense

I am all for heavily penalising angle-shoots. Poker needs to be cleaned-up IMO.

They need to change the all in rule. The player should be required to announce the amount.

It's a common rule in most major tournaments. I'm always shocked and amazed just how many players don't know about this rule.

It's right up there with the rule you shouldn't 'muddy' (where you mix different value chips) your stack either.

Highest value chips, always up front, and the highest ones on top if you do stack them on top of other value chips.
