Sound problem

The speaker icon has disappeared from by taskbar so I have no sound at present,how do I get it back?

If you're just missing the icon, you can go to the sound control panel and adjust the volume there. But I imagine there's more to it than that...

Go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager and see if you have a soundcard listed.
