Default Live 2/4 Hand. River play.

Table is very passive. Of the ten people at the table, usually 5 limpers pre-flop. Villain is a strange player. I'd just had a smoke with him, where we discussed strategy and what-not, seems like he loves to gamble. Tells me about how he loves to play 6/12 when he only buys for about 10 BB or so and hopes to get lucky. He's usually passive pre-flop, but I haven't seen him showdown any hands yet, so I'm never quite sure what he's holding.

I'm in the BB with Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Five limps before, and I check to see a free flop.

Flop comes:

Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I check, MP 1 bets, everyone calls back to me, I raise, everyone calls, and we see a turn...

Turn:

8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I lead out and bet. I get two callers here. Villian at MP1, and another passive calling station at MP2.

River:

J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I lead out and bet. Villain Raises. MP2 folds.

I look at him and ask him if he has Pocket 6's, and he just laughs and says call and see.

I wince and call.

Did I play this right?

I think you should have bet-reraised the flop rather than check-raised it.

There's been absolutely no raising on any street at the table, it was so passive really that the grumpy old men at the table were more or less getting grouchy at me any time I raised pre-flop. Anyways - when you're not really expecting anyone to raise you with any kind of hand on the flop, or respect your check/raises (Check/Raises just made these players grouchy, not quirking their eye-brows thinking they are beat) this play felt good with 4 people left to act behind me...

I felt like it was a solid play to snag 2 more BB considering the table history, though hell, I haven't really played for a year at least (this was my first time live too) so maybe my logic is a bit out of whack.

If you aren't expecting anyone to raise you, then you shouldn't expect them to bet and therefore should lead.

Fair enough. Losing the possible other 4 SB trying to gain the extra 2 BB with a C/R which doesn't seem likely given a passive table makes sense now.

I like to lead this hand with this type of a flop almost all the time. Other than that looks good. I feel your pain though as far as getting those looks when you are the only one raising at an older type of table. I dont give a .... any more though.

If anyone is curious, or wants to try to put MP1 on a hand, I'd be glad to post results later today.
