Does anyone know if July 5th is the last day to register? Is it possible to register after day1A starts?

you only need your driver's license to show the dealer with your ticket, so yes a passport is more than enough

You can register the morning of July 6th.

I heard from a floor guy that you can register up until the last day 1. Take it for what it's worth as they're notorious for giving out misinformation.

Going by the experiences of prior years, the answer would have to be Yes, you can register (even come in as an alternate) until well into Day 1D.
