Did I screw up AA in $2/$4?
AA from UTG+2. BB is loose-passive. MP1 is tight-aggressive.
Two folds. I raise with AsAd. MP1 reraises. BB calls. I cap. MP1 and BB call. Flop: Ks 3s Th BB checks. I bet. MP1 raises. BB calls. I reraise. MP1 caps. BB and I call. Turn: Ks 3s Th 9c BB checks. I bet. MP1 raises. BB calls. I reraise. MP1 caps. BB and I call. River: Ks 3s Th 9c 8d BB checks. I check. MP1 bets. We both call. MP1 opens up pocket tens. I cry. MP1 takes a huge pot. (FYI: BB had AK offsuit) Did I play this wrong, or should I continue playing this way in the future? What would you have done on each round of betting? |

Re: Did I screw up AA in $2/$4?
Preflop, flop, and river are good. Checkcall turn. There is virtually no chance this checks through (especially since it's almost impossible for villain to have a draw given that the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] is in your hand). Turn 3bet is a serious overplay.

Just an exercise in slowing down. PP are more likely due to the preflop action. You capped it and he's still not slowing down. KK and TT is certainly not out of the question. Slow down when he caps it.

Re: Did I screw up AA in $2/$4?
as already mentioned where you went wrong here was the turn. given the size of the pot and villians cap on teh flop we should be in call down mode here. Pray for an ace on the river.

Check/call turn and river.
It is a rare $2/$4 player to cap the flop with less than two pair. |
