Stars 4/180: Ugly KK spot vs. chip leader
Lurked here a long time, first post. Final 17 or 18 players. Villain is the chip leader, whisky mike, who according to sharkscope is a losing player over a very short sample. I haven't been at a table with him yet, so no strong reads, but I'd seen him play a few heads-up pots, and he bet in position when checked to every time.

Re: Stars 4/180: Ugly KK spot vs. chip leader
First I really hate the c/r. This board is way too dangerous to be trying any fancy plays, just lead the flop for 4k. As played, I stick it in and hope for the best, but I'm not happy about it.

For the record, I totally agree about how bad the c/r is. When this guy called, I was planning on doing it, so I pretty much snap-checked without really looking at what a lousy spot it was for a c/r.

[/ QUOTE ] I would make a laydown here, you raised preflop and checkraised on this board, which indicates great strength, villains has to put on you on big overcards like QQ and more, or you should have been caught doing this with AK or AQ. I cant see villain do this with TT or JJ, may do it with aces do sometimes. I think he would have reraised QQ preflop, not a hand to trap with in that position. Big bets mean big hands more often then not, I can only see you beat here a very weirdly played JJ or TT (doesnt get odds to call for his OESD). You asked a queston, can you beat a high pair, he says yes I can, IMHO people think to often they are getting bluffed at. I think he has a set or a made straight here like 80% of the time, a flushdraw plus overcards would have banged you allin. Preflop I would have raised somewhat more like 2800, you have a great hand and your M is close to 20, so if I get no action at all so be it. I really want to build a big pot. As said bet the flop, it is to dangerous to gamble that he bets this one. If he raises me I call and evaluate the turn, if he moves allin I have to call because of the drawing opp. If he calls I probably bet again on the turn, while he could still be drawing. |

Re: Stars 4/180: Ugly KK spot vs. chip leader
The idea of CRing someone who is liable to bet when checked to a lot is good, but that flop isn't the one to do it on, B/3BAI >> CR there. As played you must get your chips in the middle, you've put in 10K and you've got 12K left, YHIG way too much to fold (and you have odds to suck out on 98 even)

Also, you have put half of your stack in the freaking check-raise, so push and reload because villian obviously has JT
