I consistantly feel lost playing big draws, especially in multiway pots. Advice please:
Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.5/$1 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter) SB: $85.50 Hero (BB): $100 UTG: $25.50 MP: $74.50 CO: $60 BTN: $102 Reads: Just sat down at table - no reads Preflop: Hero is dealt K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6 Players) UTG calls $1, MP folds, CO calls $1, BTN folds, SB calls $0.5, Hero checks Flop: ($4) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 Players) SB checks Hero???? Do you check with the intent on raising someone who bets at the pot, or do you bet out trying to build a pot and hopefully get a chance at a 3-bet or even push? Also, can someone elaborate on what to do if it were only 3 or even HU? |

Bet,your hand is huge and no one respects blind bets in an unraised pot.If your three bet i ofton will just call and rethink after turn knowing we are up against an A most likely, pushing is an option as well.Eithor way we have a huge hand action is fine.

Bet-call is OK. If raised then you are mostly up against three sixes or aces over sixes so your draw starts to look a bit weak. 3-betting draws in an unraised pot is generally bad.
Check-raise is OK, if someone is likely to take a random shot or fold an ace. Check-call is OK. You induce bluffs where you have showdown value and a chance to improve, can't get shut out, and you keep worse draws in. So whatever basically. |

Bet flop. If you're called you have a huge draw and plenty of nut outs. If you get raised I make a decision based of from where the raise came (the position and the stack size of the player raising) and how much more for me to call.
Same goes for 3-ways and HU. Edit: I think c/r will most often leave us with bad stacksizes on the turn, so readless that's not a good option imo. I think c/c might be fine though, but it makes your hand a bit more transparent. |

I'd bet out. With your hand & this flop alot of players get a sudden case of FPS. So do the opposite...just bet out.

I'd bet $4,and if someone raises you look to get it in on the flop. A raise of a blind bet in an unraised pot by no means indicates that the person has at least 2 pair, and vs. Ax you're about a coinflip with plenty of fold equity to boot. This hand is a monster on the flop and should be played as such.

I play this hand like it's a set, OP. Check/calling is bad; you've planted a neon sign indicating a draw on your hand, and good luck getting paid when it hits. Leading is best in my view; you're either taking down the pot now or building a pot with what is often the favorite to win.
If someone raises I'm pushing here. I like check/raising better than check/calling for obvious reasons, but I like check/raising less than leading because you're likely to get called by most TP hands and then you're in a bloated pot OOP when you whiff the turn. |

[/ QUOTE ] Jam, I have to confess my poker crush on you; I've been gone for awhile but I almost never dissent when I read your stuff. But at these stakes, while TP hands often call, you will see all kinds of junk like AT raise here. So I would say a raise might be a set a plurality of the time, but not the majority. However... [ QUOTE ] 3-betting draws in an unraised pot is generally bad. [/ QUOTE ] A fine point. |

[/ QUOTE ] ouch... my standard line here would be b/3bet. if we thought our opponent could raise a good ace but maybe fold to a big all in wouldnt it be correct? also even if called arent we in good shape? |
