Default General AutoHotKey Questions - New AHK User

Please excuse the simplicity of these questions coming from someone who has never used AutoHotKey.exe

Does the AHK.exe need to be located in the same directory as the program it is going to modify keys or strokes?

May I assume that the AHK script written by someone also has to be in the same directory as both the AHK.exe file and the script?

TIA

No you can have AHK scripts in any directory and you can have them even on other machines without installed AHK if you compile them (compiler is in the package).

For more visit autohotkey forum on their main web site!

I did go to the ahk site. A bit overwhelming at this point for me. I should clarify.

I am about to use/install a couple of the newer ahk's written by people here. So, I just get/keep the most recent ahk.exe in the windows/system directory, and put the ahk script anywhere I want as long as I merely set up a desktop icon to be able to run it. That about it?
