Default $100/$200 LH 6 max

I played about 400 hands on the 6 max tables.

My stats were 33/26, I dont know how this messures up, I was just playing by feel.

Party Poker 100.00/200.00 Hold'em (6 handed) link

Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
2 folds, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, 1 folds, Button caps, Hero calls.

Flop: (9.00 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, Button calls.

Turn: (5.50 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, Button calls.

River: (7.50 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

Final Pot: 9.50 BB.

Button has 55.... Is his play Standard?

(i initially bet the river, but this is obviously a huge mistake)

This is a pretty easy river bet. You are out of position, and need to go to showdown. He will never bluff on this board. If you check, he will rarely check behind a better hand (AQ, AK possibly) but will bet almost any better hand. However, he will check behind every hand you beat (Ax, good kings, etc). Also, there is such a little chance that you are going to be bluff raised out of this pot that you can easily fold to a raise.

Yeah, not betting this would be awful. And he doesn't check behind 55 here, he bets it.

Donk betting the flop into a pre-flop capper is not standard I dont think.

How does AJ stack up against a button capper in those games?

Yeah, I was playing pretty horrible.

I couldnt seperate the idea that I couldnt blow him off his hand the way I could in no limit at a later time.

I would probably end up betting; however... When KKF donks the flop, villain is showing down bascially any hand with traditional showdown value. Unless his capping range is huge, this means he is going to showdown.

A check/fold line is reasonable on the river, because he is not betting anything you beat. Betting thus serves two purposes: 1. to get value from weaker hands, which he will call with. 2. to avoid the very few times you check/fold the winner. Reason #1 is by far the most pertinent.

There is value in that bet only if you are ahead of 50% of his range on the river. I'd say a strong ace or a weak pair are his most likely holdings. I don't know how many weak aces/strong kings are really in that range. I think you are probably behind 80% of his range, so there is not that much value in your bet, so a check/fold might be best.
