Most efficient method of becoming proficient in HU TRN?
Hi all,
I haven't played much HU before, but I've decided to branch out a little as my local Casino (Crown in Melbourne) is running a NL HE HU tournament in a month. My question is what is the best method to get good really quickly with a tournament in mind. Should I primarily play SnG or do you think playing cash games deeper stacked against stronger opponents would be wiser. Has anyone played a Live HU Tourney before, even better if it was at Crown. What sort of calibre are the players you encountered? So far (2 days) I've played 50 HU SnG's at the $6 and $11 levels and my basic plan is to try and play 50 at each level up to the 55's and attain an ROI of 10% or better repeating the level again if I don't achieve this number. I would like to get to the 115's, but I only have a month, so I have to be realistic. All/any feedback much appreciated. |

Re: Most efficient method of becoming proficient in HU?
How big of a buyin and what sort of players will be playing in this MTT?
Live pros? Online pros? If you're going to be facing good competition (probably unlikely given what we've seen at most HU MTTs) I would suggest playing some good 2+2ers in HUSNG for practice. And definitely play HUSNG, as that is likely the closest format to what you are going to play, if not exact (minus the live aspect). |

[/ QUOTE ] The Buy in is $1000 +100 AUD (Is this commision horrible? Most commisions are 15 - 35% so this is actually good in comparision), I'm really not sure of what type of players to expect. Overall the play I've seen in the Casino is pretty bad, even at the highest NL Games they have there. 1/2 NL is my main online game and I think a solid online $25 NL could beat those games. But I guess some of the better players from around OZ could come so it may be better. I'm not sure whether they will be live or online pro's, given the rake structure I doubt there are any real live 'pros'... I'm really interested to hear any sort of trip reports play might have from the OZ millions HU event or comments on the standard of play. I'd love to play some good 2p2ers, it's too late to join the league right? and I'm considering coaching a week or 2 before the event (Still waiting on the structure to be released before I definitely commit to playing). PM me offers or provide a link if there is one pls for HU coaches. For anyone interested here is what the tourney Brochure reads. 'Heads Up Event In the Heads Up event, a maximum of 64 players will be drawn into pools and play a match against each opponent within their pool, gaining a point for each victory. The player with the most points from each pool will progress to the Finals which will a best-of-three format.' |
