Game Selection
Hi, I'm new to this forum, but have been occasionally playing low-stakes (3/6 and 6/12) in B&M for several months now.
I've noticed some games have been much tougher than others, but don't know how to put myself into a good situation until I'm already playing. How do you guys select your game in low-stakes live games? |

Re: Game Selection
Asking for a table change the minute you recognize that you're at a table that you're not playing well at is key. It takes some getting used to, but eventually you'll figure out how to better read tables quickly. Start by checking out out many people are playing preflop on average, how many raise, and especially how many people are cold calling raises (one of the best indicators that there is extra money in the pot). Note who the better players are and whether you're in bad position related to them. Note the maniac raisers and make sure your position lets you act after them.
Personally, I also move if people are continually asking for set-ups, eating, or not paying attention. Slow tables bug me and I know it, so I get away from them so I'm not concentrating on my pet peeves instead of the cards. |

Re: Game Selection
In low stakes, there's usually money to be made in every table except the ones where you see it folding around to the blinds often. Granted, it doesn't happen often, but it does early in the day.
Look for the tables with one or two LAGs and lots of people cold-calling. Very much money to be had. Second best is the one where 3/4 limp and they all whine when you raise every time you come in. |

Re: Game Selection
My general rules for 3/6 are:
If it folds around to the button, ask for a table change. If I raise in EP and take down the blinds, ask for a table change. If someone yells at the dealer, ask for a table change. If someone yells at me, continue stacking his chips and order a beer. |

Re: Game Selection
One of the guys on the forum here pointed this out when I met up with him this year for a session. He made table changes quite often and it was one of the keys to his having a good session or a great one. Table game=very important to me.
